Sea & nature
Where Istria runs wild.
South of the city, the coastline becomes an invitation to slow down. Kamenjak is a place for following the shore and paying attention to the landscape. Arrive prepared, then choose less: one walk, one suitable cove, and time to notice where you are.

Know the landscape
Lower Kamenjak lies at the southern end of Istria near Premantura. It is a protected landscape managed by the public institution Kamenjak, not a national park. That distinction matters when checking information: use the manager’s own visitor guidance for access, tickets, maps and rules. Do not rely on an operator using a more familiar but inaccurate label.
Take a lighter itinerary. Leave a lighter footprint.
Build a manageable coastal day
Decide how you will enter and move around before setting off. Walking, cycling and driving create different distances and requirements; vehicle arrangements can change seasonally. Carry water, sun protection and footwear suited to uneven ground. Choose a route that matches your group’s ability rather than the most dramatic viewpoint in a social-media clip.
Respect the sea and the place
Rocky edges, cliffs and caves should not be treated as an invitation to jump or explore regardless of conditions. Follow signs and local instructions, remain on permitted routes and take your litter away. Weather can change the practical shape of a day here. A sheltered town walk is a worthwhile alternative, not a failed adventure.
Before you go
Is Kamenjak a national park?
No. Lower Kamenjak is a protected landscape managed by JU Kamenjak. Brijuni is the nearby national park.
Should I combine it with Brijuni in one day?
Our recommendation is to choose one. They involve different journeys, and both deserve more than a rushed stop.
